Since its formation in 1991, Charlestown Rowing Cub has been closely associated with the community of Charlestown and local charities. Apart from providing rowing activities most evenings of the week, adding to the interest in the harbour, the club is closely involved in community activities, including - Regatta Week, Village Carnival, Charlestown Business Rowing Challenge, Local Housing Association Rowing Challenge, School Visits, Community Warden Scheme, Quiz Nights and Corporate rowing evenings.
The club annually selects a local charity to benefit from its fund rasing events, the main event being the Boxing Day Swim, that attracts hundreds of visitors to the harbour. Charlestown Rowing Club has donated to local Charities, including- Churchtown Outdoor Activity Centre for the disabled, the RNLI, the Church Hall and others
